Francois M. de Visscher
Francois M. de Visscher has advised business-owning families for more than thirty years across the United States, Canada, Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America. He founded de Visscher & Co. in 1990 as one of the first independent financial consulting firms focused specifically on family and closely-held companies, and his team has since worked with more than three hundred family companies and family offices on issues of liquidity, growth capital, and business and family governance. Before founding his own firm he was a partner at Smith Barney, where he founded and ran Wall Street's first Family Business Group. He is also co-founder and Executive Chairman of FODIS and a senior advisor and partner at Cambridge Family Enterprise Group. De Visscher is a shareholder and past director of his own family's global enterprise, N.V. Bekaert S.A., headquartered in Belgium and founded by his great-grandfather in 1880. He is a CPA and holds an MBA from Rutgers University.
